Guide: Installing Foam Washer Silencers for Sanwa Buttons

After 100 to many complaints about my angry button mashing on my fightstick from my wife due to how loud it was I decided to install some silencers. You can just buy the buttons with the silencers pre-installed but if you currently have standard Sanwa buttons you are better off financially just installing them yourself rather than buying all new buttons. In fact new buttons would cost £2.52 a button where as the silencers them selves cost only 24p each. Now these may be called silent but they are not truly so. But they do change the noise from a loud, high pitch clack noise to a low and much quieter thud. So it is a lot quieter and the pitch is a lot less penetrating.

I got mine from the same place I purchased my buttons and stick. ArcadeworldUK.com. You can find the washers I used here.

So for anyone wanting to install these on your fightstick buttons, here is a simple 'how to'.

Firstly remove the button from your fight stick and detach the cables.

Then take a screw driver (or anything thin and solid that fits) and press in the white clip you see in the image above. There is one on both side and you need to push both in. It can be a bit fiddly. Once both are pushed in the button will raise slightly.

You can now simply pull out the button section.

Take your washer silencer and place it into the base. The prongs slide into where the button clips attach. Line up one side like in the picture below.

Then push the other side in so it sits comfortably at the bottom.

Clip your button back in and you're done. You can now reinstall your button and you are good to go.
